PT3 and HM are being released soon.
On PT I average 10 hands/sec and on HM I'm doing 50 h/s.

[/ QUOTE ]

That's still slow, PokerAcademy Prospector (using sqlite BTW) has recently set the benchmark at 300 odd hands/sec. Josh and Roy have some catching up to do.

[/ QUOTE ]

Just to clarify Poker Academy Prospector doesn't use sqlite, but a custom solution.

pah! My Realtime HUD imports 250k hands in under 250 secs. Of course it does help that most of the hands are 6-max NL. If I had to import a lot of 9-max FLO8, it would probably be a lot worse.

Turn off auto-rating for yourself. This is the single biggest speed-up and is reasily done.

Convert your PT database to PostgreSQL. Instructions are in the Pokertracker forum.

Cluster your PostgreSQL database. Instructions are again in the Pokertracker forum.

[/ QUOTE ]

is there much of a performance boost gained by changing to postgre? is it faster? smaller db?

[/ QUOTE ]

PostgreSQL is immensely faster and better than using the default Access databases.

SQLite does insert faster, however, there are several problems associated with it. For one, data security is poor. The database(s) become corrupted way too often for our liking. (Why do you think the inserts are faster) Also, SQLite locks their entire database during writing. There are more issues which I will not go into but it isnt really a viable solution for poker tracking software.

Best regards,

Don't get me wrong, I am in no way advocating the use of sqlite for a 'poker db' In my mind it sits somewhere slightly above Access and below mysql. My comment was purely an observation.

Custom solution? That means there will be no third party add-on applications? I see that as a major problem.

Have you actually opened the database file and examined the data? If not, they just might be using SQLite for something else.
