Default Favorite LA Casino

Hi all... Work is going to take me to LA later this month, and I will have one free night to play poker. Which of the LA cardrooms is the most popular among players and would be considered a "must see" for poker fans?

I think the nicest one is the Bicycle, and it is also very large, lots of games to choose from, etc. However, the Commerce is the most impressive in terms of sheer size - the largest poker room in the world.

Commerce for size/action. Really though theres not much to "see" at LA poker rooms in comparison to Las Vegas casinos.

LOL.. what?

You have the Bike confused with skid row.

Commerce is certainly worth a look just for the sheer size of it - action is generally good to excellent there as well. The Bike is quieter - most would say nicer than Commerce. The Bike also offers free food in its top section (6/12 limit and $100NL and up).

Hustler has a very nice room as well - but action there can be more of a crapshoot. Sometimes it's busy there. Other times it's not.

The OP seemed like he wanted to "see a nice place". There is certainly plenty of action at the Hawaiian Gardens, but it is the barest-boned, least fancy poker room I have ever seen (out of about 30). Kind of like a warehouse with poker tables, unless it has changed a lot in the last year. The Bicycle also gives a decent free meal after you play for 3 hours which I like. Never seen anymore unsavory characters there than at any other place, and never been mugged walking to the room from the fenced in, guarded parking lot...

Commerce - come see the biggest - and the most likely location for "star" sightings as well.

Last Sat. James Woods (Shark series) in LHE tournament upstairs.

Check which casino has the biggest tourney on your day. Go there for people watching.

If you have a special game you want to play, that could point you to a different casino.

A "must see" I guess would be Commerce - as another poster wrote it's the biggest poker room(s) in the world. I like the bike and it is big and quite nice (disregard the homeless mugging crap from another poster who has no idea what he/she is talking about). If you are playing Sunday night you might try the hustler since the "big" game is going then and you can sit right next to the players you watch on TV (Barry, Ted, etc.).

All the rest are typical card rooms.

Thank you for all the replies. I will be in town on a Tuesday night, and so I think that I will give Commerce a try. It sounds like it will have the best selection of games for a weeknight and is a landmark in its own right. Thanks again for the suggestions.

HG is a DUMP compared to Bike or Commerce, feels like a warehouse decorated with cheap "asian" paper displays bought at Party City.
