Default BB special - flopped top two, but facing turn min raise

2/4

Reads: I have only been at the table about an orbit. I won a small pot on my first hand when I flopped top pair (queens), weak kicker. I have no reads on Villain, except for the fact that he isn't sitting with a full buy-in which leads me to believe he is not an especially strong player.

Preflop: I'm in the big blind and pick up J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. UTG Villain limps, UTG+1 over limps, folds to the small blind who completes, and I check my option.

Four players to the flop...

Flop: 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
SB checks to me, and I make it $14 to go. Villain calls, SB calls.

Turn: 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
SB checks to me, and I bet $40. Villain min-raises to $80. SB folds. Action's on me...

How do you proceed on the turn, and what's your river plan?

It's very difficult to tell if villain wants a call from the SB or if he's actually trying to protect his hand from a flush draw. I'm guessing the former, in which case you might be in trouble against a flopped straight or set. I don't think the turn helped him. In any event, I think very rarely that villain has a flush draw here, which is why I think you should call and represent excactly that. If river comes a spade, you bet like you would a flush. If it comes blank, you check and call depending on how much he bets. If a jack or an eight fall I bet around 1/2 the pot, since you cannot hope for more than a crying call.

Whoops - sorry - I forgot to include that. Villain had about ~$300 and change behind when starting the hand. I covered.
