Default Any Plans to abolish the US Imperial system in favour of metric?

Somebody in Europe says you guys in the US are going to ditch the pounds & ounces, pints and quarts, feet and inches in favo(u)r of metric?

any truth in said rumo(u)r?

Already done in the military and partially done in the soft drink industry.

Metric IS our official system of measure, if it hasn't happened yet, it probably will when we start using the Euro currency.

Never going to happen in my lifetime. Not saying that we won't know both (I do), but our measurements are always going to be powers of 2 instead of metric's powers of 10.

in northern Vermont, some highway signs are in Kilometers!

i was in vermont a couple weeks back and there was one sign that had kilometers and was written in french. ON A US HIGHWAY!

NOW THAT BELONGS IN THE UNAMERICAN THREAD!
