I played a little ball against Gomes in Providence over the summers before his Junior and Senior years at Providence College. By pro standards, he's a pretty quiet and friendly guy on the court also. I was more impressed by his game than anything though. All the people who said he wasn't deserving of all-american status his junior year are full of [censored]. He'll be a superstar in the league sooner or later, and the smart money's on sooner, especially if the C's get rid of Pierce.

Superstar is a strong word. Gomes is good. He's never going to carry a franchise, though.

I could see Gomes develop into a really solid 16-18/8 type of guy. He and Big Al could be become a two-headed monster, while Perk will remain the no-hands, runs really awkwardly monster.

Oh, and if the Celts get rid of Pierce, that team just goes right down the tubes. It ain't gonna happen.
