Time Travel research due to Heroes....
After watching the most recent heroes episode. I found myself sitting through the first 15 min of 24 trying to make sense of it all.
After some Google searching I came across some pretty interesting links. This first one has great flash commentary and is “relatively” straightforward The tenth dimension More General Time Travel Knowledge How Stuff Works So did heroes make sense? Do any time travel movies or books make sense? Knowing all this is it still possible to enjoy movies, tv shows and books centered around time travel? Believing a couple of key assumptions is one thing. But deifying logical paradoxes is another. Maybe my jaded youth has made it impossible for me to suspend disbelief even if it’s just to enjoy a story. Sometimes I wish I could just shut off my brain. |

Re: Time Travel research due to Heroes....
I never watch this show except was sitting at the computer last nite as my wife watched. the time travel presented was lame and wouldn't seem to make sense based on the typical scifi explanations. most good hard sci fi would indicate that you can't meet yourself.

[/ QUOTE ] Time travel where characters have met themselves: Doctor Who Farscape Heroes 12 Monkeys Both Marvel and DC comics Dragonball Z Quantum Leap (sort of) Time travel where charaters saw themselves: A Christmas Carol Back to the Future And this is a pretty large chunk of the time travel I've seen in fiction. |

Re: Time Travel research due to Heroes....
No, it's impossible to see yourself if going into the future. Because you are taking yourself out of that timeline and thus you wouldn't exsist in the future. Basically there would be a bunch of missing person reports but thats it. Now you can go back and see yourself but that would [censored] up everything basically.

Re: Time Travel research due to Heroes....
It is possible to stop time. Time and Speed are inversly proportional so as you reach the speed of light time stops. Check out links above.
Also on that tenth dimension link you have to click imagining the tenth dimension to view the flash show. |

[ QUOTE ] You actually can not go back in time. Thats impossible. [/ QUOTE ] Are you saying that you can go forward in time? [/ QUOTE ] Of course you can go forward in time. You're doing it right now in fact. You can also change the rate at which time passes relative to someone else by increasing your velocity relative to them, but you will never notice anything odd happening in your own frame of reference. As you approach the speed of light relative to someone else, the difference in passage of time becomes quite drastic. For example, you could be 20 years old and shake hands with your twin brother who is now 50 years older than you. |
