Tech,

Maybe, but keep in mind that this is just a $1500 event, so it's not like he was really trying. Remember what he said in his SI interview?

"Jacob: Well, at this point in my career, I'm really just focused on major events. In the poker world, that means events with $10,000 or higher buyins. I'm still going to play some smaller events in the World Series of Poker, because you pretty much have to if you want a chance at winning the most bracelets of all time. But I don't take any of those smaller buyin events very seriously. With my track record, everyone basically assumes I will dominate in those events. The only interesting question is how many major titles I can win at this point. There are still a number of players out there who are close to my level, so I definitely have to focus when playing the majors. If I don't, there are quite a few players who have a chance at beating me. Not really the old names from ESPN, but some of the proven stars like Jeff Madsen and Patrik Antonius and young upstarts like Doug Kim and Jason Strasser. I can guarantee you these guys are training hard to try and get their game to my level, so I have to stay focused and maintain my skill advantage over them."

I'm not gonna be the first to claim this but when you combine Alex Jacob's record, youth, and unique demeanor with the new fro, we're looking at the next TV poker sensation.

hey guys,

thanks again for all the support and love. it's really great to see.

of course i'm disappointed but i actually feel like i played great. given the stack-to-blind ratio and the way the cards were dealt i didn't think there was anything i could do to avoid losing the chiplead. beyond that it was just one bizarre hand. i had played with him for hours the day before and in fact we were involved in a pot where he raised me on an 8864 board. at this point i went pretty deep in the tank as i am wont to do when i am seriously considering putting a ton of chips in. the good news for me is that the way the hand was played it made not much sense for him to have any sort of hand. the bad news was that this guy appeared to be very tight and incapable of much imaginative play from what i had seen, his favorite thing to do seemed to be tank and then fold. anyway afraid of making a huge mistake i ended up folding my ten high and he slammed the A7 bluff in my face. fair enough. so anyway, i felt pretty confident that he didn't want me to call.

i'll get em next time guys. thanks again.

alex
