I'm surprised more people haven't stepped up to the plate period. This has more to do with the freedom of the internet than poker. If poker was so easy to ban, what's next?

.... maybe because they are self-centered, spoiled, self-aggrandizing, short-sighted egoists ......

No, sorry, I misread the question ... I thought it was about poker players generally. ....

In order to protect the children, next year they will be banning porn, chat rooms, and any generally objectionable content such as howard stern, kid rock and pamela anderson. In addition, all ISP's will be required to keep records of every site you visit for two years.

Where are poker spokesmen such as Doyle Brunson? I have not heard much from anyone on our side on this issue.

One thing to consider is that high-profile actors and actresses, for the most part, are wealthy actors and actresses. Which often means residences and bank accounts in other countries where this isn't an issue. So while they'll selflessly donate time and money to such worthwhile causes as saving an endangered shrub on Rodeo Drive, they have no need to assist the rest of us.
If any "celebrities" are going to lend their voices and their cash it will have to be those whose celebrity was created by the poker boom: the players themselves. And to be honest, I'm a bit disappointed in the public front the Ivey's, Hellmuth's, etc have so far exhibited. Maybe they're rallying the troops and working contacts, but it would be nice, as well as reassuring, to see a public side to their efforts.
