Default action on cruise ships?

anybody know how the action is on cruise ships?

details:

-i play limit but am getting into NL. specific info about the two would be appreciated.

-i play micro limits upto 2/4 in limit and just NL25 so far but that will hopefully be different by the time a cruise opportunity rolls around.

-i live in europe, have only played online so far and am going home to california at Xmas. i can get a great deal on a 5 day cruise and could really use the R and R. just wondering if i might end up being able to supplement the cost of the trip a bit by playing in the on-ship casino.

-the other possibility i was considering was a trip to vegas, but it would be a whole lot less relaxing and ironically, more expensive. if anyone would care to compare the two options, i'd be eternally grateful!

thanks a bunch.

Took a cruise in August on a Royal Caribbean boat. Not a big casino. They did attempt to have daily 7 person sit n gos ($115 buy-in with $15 as the fee). Often there was not enough interest which I found a bit surprising. They opened up a $5/$10 limit table later in the evening (around 10 pm) and would keep it open until the casino closed or there weren't enough players. Game was softer than soft with a lot of players never having played before. There were also a few days where the casino was closed (docked in Bermuda). Was only open when the boat was in the ocean. I did sneak in an hour on-line session during this downtime. Well have fun.

Only cruise I've been on didn't have a poker table. Craps/blackjack/etc, they had, but not poker. This was about 2 years ago.

I paid a flat fee of about $15 bucks for 1 hour of wireless internet connectivity. Agreed a steep price to pay.

There have been several threads on cruise ship poker and one thing that kept being mentioned was the astronomical rake (10%, uncapped).

It can be decent...Quite a few older women looking for a good time.

Man, that was bad. But I couldn't stop myself.

If you use Princess lines, it's worse than that. You might make sure they check their colostomy bags before sex...

We went on a cruise with my wife's parents, brother and his wife, and 4 other friends of ours. We're all in our 30's (not counting her parents) and we were easily 30 years younger than the average... There were 5 children on the cruise, total, out of 2000 people and I think all 5 were in the same family.

Found out later Princess is the unofficial line for retirees. Carnival caters to the younger crowd.

Hi mrpotto,

While in Bermuda you could have played in a NL texas Holdem tournament, they run games at various locations every night of the week the most popular being 230 game with rebuys and top ups on Tuesday night. You can see all the games, locations and start times on the event calendar at http://www.pokerinbermuda.com, they record results as well so you can check the payouts for the different games.

Had 2 tables of 3/6 limit going on Carnival in June. terrible players, sweet suckouts. Just play tight and ram and jam when you're ahead and you'll be fine. Yeah, sick stupid rake and dealers are were atrocious and slow.
