If the button caps, your seeing the river getting 17-1, right?

I dont like the flop bet, You've got balls to do that lol! Unless you're running super hot and have a good idea of your table image and opponents? will any/many fold here? Even if two fold it's still pretty crap no?

Turn is nice, I tend to wimp on this situations. sometimes it "Induces bluffs" *Cough im a passive fish cough * othertimes it loses/saves me bets.

Nice hand though I'm wondering WTF UTG has now though... He's a concern even with your read.

Anyone else not bet the flop? Up against 3 opponents with no immediate draws, and king high. It would suck to get raised by button here which I think might happen a decent amount of the time.

This is something that I always struggle with since I'm such a pf LAG. In this situation, however, I would bet because:
a) This is a fairly raggy flop with one scary card you could have hit, so your fold equity is ok.
b) I want the button, because there's going to be several turn cards which I'll probably want a freebie for. And, y'know, it's the button.

If I were first to act, I'd check-fold the flop.

The flop bet is horrible. The turn 3-bet is standard against most opponents at 3/6 with a fish padding the pot. I don't see what is so great here. This post is very results oriented in flavor.

I respectfully disagree. A J8x flop is often given all kinds of crap limping/cold-calling hands a draw or a pair. You have one loose-passive (no fold equity) and one LAG (who might raise you). Betting this flop and not taking it down immediately is a small mistake; betting and getting raised by the button and knocking out UTG is a huge mistake.

very result oriented. Perhaps that poor guy had A8s flopped a pair and thought he could get more money in with the best of it by check calling cause he had 2 maniacs behind him. This is the sort of shet that happens to me daily.

2 choices.
bet and collect small pot or get raised and have tough decisions
check/call and have no tough decisions and by the river you will have a bigger pot and occasionally get drawn out on.

With maiacs like MP and BUTTON i think there is more EV in letting them flood the pot with bets which they will do with winners and losers. Taking the lead will make others play better despite themselves. you'd be making them put a little more in with winners and less with losers.

on the flop the guy sees you bet and made a good read to "call down the maniacs" and the poker gods punished him for it. Sounds like my weekend in a nutshell

It would really be terrible if you do this daily with something like A8s... easy turn fold.

This has been illuminating to me, because I'll be totally honest, I read it and thought the turn three-bet was really a bit much... But I'm relatively new to 6max and so I'll take your word for it. (It would certainly be way too much if it were full ring, which is my [censored]...)

I didn't care for the flop bet either. It's a big pot - raised and multiway, and it's draw heavy. There is very little fold equity here.

Nice play on the turn based on your read.
