$1500 Mixed, Top pair moderate kicker on turn

NL part of $1500 mixed, blinds 100-200. Table has been on the tight side, especially in the limit where I have a good edge against all the tight/passive limit players.

I find QJcc in the hi-jack and make it 550 out of 4500. Cut-off (has me covered) calls. He is new to the table, young, quiet and not festooned in cheap stars/full tilt gear, so three possible indications of not being a donk. Flop Q84 one club, I bet 900 into 1400 pot, he calls. Turn is a T, making rainbow.

If we check, what do we do if villain bets small (say 1000) ? Commits us ?
