Default Fear of Communism/Fear of Terrorism?

Has there been a discussion in this forum relating to the similarities between the "fear of communism" and "fear of terrorism". If so can someone please attach a link. This has been something I have thought about for sometime. There seems to be many parallels between what was happening then and what is happening now. Thank you!

Perhaps a comparison could be made between the number of people killed by communism and the number of people killed by terrorism.

I doubt that. And there are many similarities between methods used in the form of propaganda to essentially scare the public into new initiatives. Only back then we had the Vietnam War and Korean War all in the name of defeating Communism ( only now we changed the term to Terrorism). Also, recall the old McCarthyism's rule and its parallels to the current administration.

Anyhow, I did try searching and was unsuccessful. As most know the search is not the most user friendly. I enjoy some of the discussions on this forum and as I am no expert figured the idea of a correlation between the two is nothing new but I suppose I am just completely off.
