Re: Ask me about being a professional psychic
[ QUOTE ]
anyway we can get a sample reading recorded? I imagine someone would be willing to call and pay. [/ QUOTE ] Really, it probably wouldn't come out too good, and it'd be severely against the rules of the agency, but if you want to read a good transcript (where I picked up some good tricks), check this out http://theskepticexpress.com/Selfrid...ic_reading.php |

Re: Ask me about being a professional psychic
Which books, specifically, did you read to prepare for your job? A list would be appreciated.

[/ QUOTE ] The best book on cold reading, hands down is The Full Facts of Cold Reading by Ian Rowland and Passages: Predictable Crises of Adult Life by Gail Sheehy is a great psychology book that basically breaks down typical stages of life. So when someone tells me they were born in 1960, I can have make some good guesses about what's going on n their life. |

you're like a cheaper version of a therapist! or a scummy thief take your pick [/ QUOTE ] I don't think it is thievery at all. Dishonest, sure. People want a service, many of them want it because they believe, or wish to believe that it is real. No real psychic can provide that service since there are none. |

Re: Ask me about being a professional psychic
Why do people usually call you? What do they want to know or hope to gain?
Do you think you actually bring value to the lives of callers? Any links for someone who was trying to get started, much like you did? What are some of your worse screw ups/incidents? |

Re: Ask me about being a professional psychic
[ QUOTE ]
Why do people usually call you for? What do they want to know or hope to gain?[ QUOTE ] Typically the questions fall into two categories: Does he/she like me? And what's going on with my career? [ QUOTE ] Do you think you actually bring value to the lives of callers? [/ QUOTE ] Meh, not really. Like I said before, I don't take serious problem type callers - I'm not interested or qualified for giving people real advice. If there's any value to these people, it can give them a shot of confidence to do something they've been wanting to. Ie. Him: I don't know if she likes me Me: Have you talked to her? Him: No, I'm too nervous Me: Well, you'll never know unless you try and things won't be as difficult as you think. [ QUOTE ] Any links for someone who was trying to get started, much like you did? [/ QUOTE ] The books I referenced above are your best source, googling those books can help you find some excerpts and general cold reading advice. [ QUOTE ] What are some of your worse screw ups/incidents? [/ QUOTE ] Generally just making too specific guesses in the beginning that were totally wrong, and not setting them up for the possiblity of wrong guesses. So I would make a totally wrong prediction, and not no how to backtrack when I was totally wrong and end up kind of lost and scrambling. |
