Default Anyone\'s Sprint PCS e-check payment (from bank) F\'d this month?

V random Q, but my Sprint cell phone service just got switched off. I checked my online bank statement and saw that it was because for the first time in the 5 years that I've had Sprint service and paid for it via electronic payment right from my Citibank acct, for some reason Citibank sent Sprint a CHECK this past month instead of the customary electronic payment that they've sent every month for the past 5 years. And wouldn't you know it, this paper check that they cut still hasn't arrived at Sprint 5 weeks later, and hence my service is cut off.

I called up Citibank, and they told me that b/c of some major upheaval on Sprint's end this past month, Sprint put the kaibosh on all e-payments and instead asked banks to simply cut them paper checks when customers requested, and the Citi rep told me they were getting 100 calls / day with my same question about Sprint. Naturally, when i called up Sprint's crack team of CS specialists, they denied any knowledge of this so-called payment snafu. Idiots.

Anyone else here have Sprint and typically send e-payments through your bank's website? Anything out of the ordinary to report for the last month or two?
