Gramps has a hard-on for 3-way calling posts
Both Stars higher buy-in SNGs.
(1) 300/600 blinds & 50 ante, 4-handed on bubble UTG = 1000 Button = 4638 SB = 5512 BB (Gramps) = 2350 UTG goes all-in, SB pushes over the top, Gramps looks down and sees T6s. SB is an aggressive player, whom I think is pushing any hand she'd call with if she knew I was folding 100% of the time in the BB. (2) 300/600 blinds & 50 ante, 3-handed Button = 3905 SB = 5375 BB (Gramps) = 4220 Button pushes, SB insta-pushes, Gramps looks down and sees 66. It seems like button may be the type to pass up a few any two push spots, but has gotten folded down a bit the last couple hands (and blinds have increased) to where the pressure is on him on this hand to *maybe* really open up his range. SB seems a tad passive, as he didn't fully take advantage of his big stack status on the bubble. *Bonus* In example #2, if the button's stack and my stack were flipped (so that I had to beat both button and SB to not get 3rd here), what would your approx. calling range be? |

I think hand one is a very easy fold. I think hand 2 is also an easy fold.

Re: Gramps has a hard-on for 3-way calling posts
(1) Calling or folding seem about the same. Benefits of folding are that you will still be ahead after UTG goes through the blinds. I think this is enough to fold because SB will push you off of most hands on flop. However I probably call this in the game praying SB doesn't push me off a pair. Undecided on this one.
(2) This seems like a fold. Although my ITM game might be lacking. If SB is passive and button has been missing pushes a fold will leave you enough chips to have a good shot of winning even if button isn't knocked out. *Bonus* - 88+,AJ+, although this seems quite tight and makes me rethink (2) |

Re: Gramps has a hard-on for 3-way calling posts
1 is call for 35% bubble, 35% bust in 3rd, 15% scoop, 15% side pot. Fold 50/50 UTG nearly trebles up vs your 1700.
Edit hold on 35% bubble, 30% scoop, 18% out in 3rd, 17% side pot. 2 I'm fairly sure is a fold. I might call if it was 3000 6000 4500 (you). As is I think the stack parity is too close. Bonus AQ+ and 99? |

Re: Gramps has a hard-on for 3-way calling posts
You have to drag the 66 hand about 36% of the time to make it a call. Even if they are both loose (35 push/25 call) it puts you at about 34.5% equity. I'm thinking 88/ATs/AJo right now.

Re: Gramps has a hard-on for 3-way calling posts
Boooo. I was thinking T6s was a call given the 3-way dynamics/hand ranges, what would happen on the next hand if BB survived (I'm in the SB with 1350 over my blind, other shorty now has 2700 to start the hand, and it's pushed in front of me), and the fact that if I fold and shorty loses, I'm not in very good shape anyhow for anything more than 3rd.
In hand #2 I actually had 88 which seemed like a clear call (at least at the time off the top of my head), so I tweaked it down a notch to 66. Maybe I should have just posted the real hand. Button had 96o and SB had 55 (which he seemed real happy about for a small pair), so it worked out well in Sklansky-land. |
