Player folds cards and grabs them back? Ruling?
Last night I was in a 2-5 NL game sitting in the 1 seat. I have AJ, and board is AAQ2. Seat 4 (drunk kid)across from me bets 100 and I push for 400 and he announces call. I flip my cards and he groans and doesn't expose his cards but holds them up so that the players to his sides are able to see them.
River is a K and he angrily tosses his cards towards the muck, one card falling short and the other landing on top of my face up cards. Both of his cards are face down. The player next to him says "split pot man" and the drunk kid beats the dealer to the cards and flips up A10. Dealer calls the floor and floor ruled it a split. Is this correct? The 'coach' sitting next to drunk kid is a major donator so I didn't kick him in the nuts too hard. But he did get a warning. |

Fair enough. So you agree a split is correct?

Re: Player folds cards and grabs them back? Ruling?
I was in a casino yesterday when a similar situation occurred on a nearby table. From what I understood, a player shoved his hand towards the dealer and before the dealer could throw them in the muck the player grabbed them back out of the dealers hands, apparently realizing that they were good. The ruling, as I was told by one of the dealers, was that the hand still played because it never hit the muck.

If the cards do NOT hit the muck, they are still live.
There are SOME specific cases where if the cards do hit the muck inadvertently but can be identified, they *may* be retrieved and held as live, at some casinos, depending. AB |

Dealer needs to be more proactive about mucking a folded hand. Correct ruling in most places. Hand did not touch the muck, and player retrieved it himself--live hand, but just barely. Lots of people need to be kicked in the nuts, though.

[/ QUOTE ] Would I deserve to get kicked in the nuts if I took the card that was face down in front of me and 'helped' it make its way into the muck? Probably so, but it did cross mind. |
