Default 6 max is clearly the best form of tounament poker

6 max has so many advantages.

1. The amount of hands played per hour is much higher, hence even with the shallow online structures you are getting more play.

2. You can play a higher percentage of your hands since fewer people are left behind you. This should appeal to the somewhat serious but still likes to play alot of hands type player.

3. One of the things i hate most is making a resteal type play and having someone wake up with a monster behind you. This is alot less likely in 6 max.

Certainly live 6 max will never be the preferred way but online it has so many advantages.

yeah, that makes tons of sense.

I totally agree w/ the OP.

As an aside, the WPT Bay101 Shooting Star is going to 6max when they get down to the money this year, which is pretty cool.

nah heads up is a completely different game.

i think the 6 max keeps alot of the regular tourney stuff just in a better form.

just think it should be more popular, has alot of features that should appeal to the serious player and the casual donk.

I have always prefered nine handed poker. I can see what your saying but to me its like 5 a side football. Yes its more exciting and you get more goals but the true 11 player game is far more tactical and intriguing.

Dont get me wrong I like playing 6 handed but I like it at the end of a tournament having knocked the other 3/4 players out. Or while the last two tables are waiting for the final table bubble when controlled aggression reigns.

i think 9 handed is fine for rebuys and deep stacks.

whenever i play a freezeout of stars i feel like ive never gotten enough play.

6 max it feels like you are given a chance even with shallowish stacks to try and generate some kind of stack before the dreaded 200 400 level.
