So you'd rather watch a fight where the guy who runs away all night wins? I had never seen PBF fight before last night and I was majorly disappointed. I can't believe that a guy who fought a totally defensive fight was able to retain his title. Oscar was the only one who pressed the action. If Oscar wouldn't have went after PBF, neither fighter would have ever landed a punch.

In MMA, you'll never see a fighter who runs the whole fight win a decision. MMA rewards aggressions and manliness, not prancing and dancing around like some kind of syncrhonized swimmer or something. Since Tyson left, boxing has just turned too effeminant.

It's interesting that you would bring up Liddell. He's the best fighter in the MMA and his opponents usually leave the ring bloodied and cleaved (or unconscious).

Contrast that to boxing where Mayweather is considered the best. After the fight last night, I couldn't even tell that Oscar had been in a fight. Mayweather may have smudged Oscar's mascara a little bit and added some color to his cheeks, but I'm sure Oscar fixed that with a trip to the beauty salon today.

For perspective, all one needs to do is look at the respective fighters' nicknames:

Boxing: Pretty Boy Floyd v. Golden Boy

MMA: Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell v. "Rampage" Jackson

So in boxing you have two bois dancing around the ring for 12 rounds. While in MMA you have one fighter who will knock you into the next ice age versus another fighter who is constantly raping and pillaging. Case closed.

That's sort of like saying, "Soccer is boring because there is no hitting. Football is better because people get hurt! Blood! Broken bones! Case closed."

If you prefer MMA to boxing and football to soccer, that's fine, so do I. But I understand and appreciate all four sports.

What Mayweather does is beautiful and amazing - if you understand it. Don't rip him just because he didn't knock DLH out. He had a gameplan and executed it to perfection.

There is more to boxing than hurting people.

Boxing and MMA have many similarities, one specifically being you have to have a plan and you have to execute that plan in order to win. Some fighters have to pick their spots and be very tactical. In last nights fight, Mayweather had to defensive because he is smaller than DLH. He has to use his foot and hand speed to beat DLH.


Do you watch boxing often? If so, what weight classes do you watch or have you watched? Lightweights and Junior Middleweights don't generall damage each other like the Light Heavyweights and Heavyweights. I shouldn't need to explain why as it should be obvious to you.

Unfortunate, but true. I just don't think boxing will be able to maintain any sort of popularity with the common man with a defensive specialist as the best fighter in boxing. Fights like last night's are just too boring for your average fan. If a rematch were held, I think they'd be lucky to get 50% of the PPV buys they had last night. The fight just didn't live up to the hype and that's the best boxing has to offer now and for the foreseeable future.

Of couse, MMA has sucky fighters too. But the best fights in MMA are just heads and shoulders above that crapfest I witnessed last night.

Boxing's best pound for pound fighters have been defensive and somewhat soft fisted for 15-20 years. Whitaker and Jones both dominated everyone while in their prime. Chris Bryd bored the heavyweight fans for years.

Just because someone is P4P the best doesn't mean they represent boxing as a whole. Jones and Pea were hardly ever on PPV because their dominance wasn't crowd pleasing.
