Strange line vs. MP poster in unraised pot.
Poster is unknown.
PokerStars 10/20 Hold'em (6 handed) Poker Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) Preflop: Hero is SB with 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. MP posts a blind of $10. 1 fold, MP (poster) checks, 2 folds, Hero completes, BB checks. Flop: (3 SB) K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players) Hero checks, BB checks, MP bets, Hero calls, BB folds. Turn: (2.50 BB) A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, MP bets, Hero raises, MP folds. Final Pot: 4.50 BB Results in white below: No showdown. Hero wins 4.50 BB. Stange line I know, but is there any merit to it? It's an awkward situation, because there's a good chance we have the best hand but either player can either bluff you off it or go to value town on you if they have a better hand. This line was mostly 'by feel', but I felt he would fold a ton of his range here, better 8s, maybe weak Ks, and all sort of air / 6 outters. Plus since he posted he might just be trying to "win back" his extra blind, lolz. |

Re: Strange line vs. MP poster in unraised pot.
somebody who posts in hj is usually terrible and can be bluffing any two here. Pot's way to small to try and get him to fold 3-6 outers at the expense of sometimes extracting a dumbo river bluff or having to give up on a 5-outer.

oh, also, no hj-posting unknown is folding a better pair in my experience.

Re: Strange line vs. MP poster in unraised pot.
sometimes I bet the flop in this spot, but this is a topic of debate and many other prefer to just call/call/call.
In any case, c/c is certainly good, and I would just keep check calling to showdown. Any poster should not have many aces or kings in their range. Of course you have no idea if this is true, but in general, my experience is that people are more inclined to raise with anything decent after posting |
