Default AJ flops trips

Villain is 21/11/3 over about 35 hands if that's anything to go by. We have a little history.....the hand before this I raised his Cbet on a monotone flop to take the pot.

I raised the flop without really thinking about the hand, board wasn't too drawy, not really sure if this was wise unless I want to play for stacks.

I'm not worried about AK here, It's mainly AQ, A8 and 88 I'm worried about. Question is does he play them that fast, his turn bet effectively commits him. Is this an easy shove call with all the other Ax hands that I beat.

I would say he has a monster.

This struck me as funny. Since, for the sake of this hand AQ=AK.

By the way, I think you should equally consider both. Many people don't 3 bet AK, especially if they're up against a TAG AND they're playing Out of position.

I think it looks like he's trying his best to get it all in by the river.

Whether or not you have reason to believe your ahead would probably, imo, be a matter of how he percieves you. Are you stealing a lot? Raising too much?

You're way ahead of his range, he could have the hands you fear, unless you think he'd 3bet AQ or 88 from the SB, but there are lots of others you beat. Is he the type to slowplay a big hand or try to get tricky and throw you off. I'd call here and call river most likely. Not sure what you'd get called with if you shoved turn, but if he thinks a little his calling range would be pretty bad.

Why wouldn't he check/raise the turn then, considering hero raised the flop and evidently has the ace...if villain has AK?...unless it's to throw hero off...?

I'm starting to get the impression that in general, trip hands are good to c/c with down the line, is this just a coincidence or are lots of trips hands best played this way?

What does a 21/11/3 call raises with from a BTN raiser? I guess not A2-A7. A8-AT maybe. AJ-AQ probably. AK maybe

So you only beat A9 of the hands he maybe calls with. I doubt he plays QQ or JJ this way. Other possibilities are 88,TT which beat you.

I can find a fold here.

Does a 21/11 really call preflop OOP with Ax? I just can't seeing him turning up with things you beat. A9 at a pinch? This really is a terrible spot and in all honesty i think it's a fold. Not that i'd be able to fold it in the heat of the moment. I'd probly end up calling turn and river but i think that's a leak of mine.

If they're suited he'd probably call lighter, that's too narrow a range IMO. Low suited Aces have quite a bit of value if they hit...if villain knows this he's calling, especially if hero has been raising a little lately.

Lol I didn't word it too well, I think AK is far more likely to raise than AQ here.

I've only been at the table with this villain for around 50 hands. So really he is an unknown.

I think the best line would have been to call the flop and raise the turn.
