Finding Euro-Denominated Funds
Hi, my roommate wants to move the part of his portfolio that is invested in U.S. bonds into European bonds that are denominated in Euros. I googled some on this and searched the board but didn't find a satisfactory answer.
What are some bond-funds that are invested in Euros? Corporate or Municipal doesn't matter (I was also unsure if Europe has Muni's like we have here and what kind of tax consequences apply to an American buying them) How can one tell if a fund is denominated in Euro's and not in Dollars? The basic idea is that he wants to be exposed to Euros, cause he thinks the dollar is going to tank, but he does not want to make a straight exchange play. Thanks for any help/thoughts. |

[/ QUOTE ] Why put all his money into Euro bonds then? If he thinks the $ is going to tank, this might not be the most +VE way to do it at the moment. A managed international moneymarket fund, Euro savings account, and some solid dividend-paying international equities might be a better spread, along with some gold. I have some Euro gilts and such, but not sure where you can find unhedged EU funds for US investors. |

Thanks for the info, Im not sure if they actually exist either, but he is pretty dead set on wanting something denominated in Euros.

Re: Finding Euro-Denominated Funds
ETrade is launching a global trading platform that will allow people to hold euros directly, at low cost, and quite easily.
