Default New Florida Law.... worth grinding?

I live in Florida, which we have many casinos. As of right now, they only contain fixed limit poker (1/2) and mulit-table tournaments. A new bill has been introduced to the Florida house should be signed into law July 1st.

This law will allow casinos and tracks to have no limit poker games. However, the max buy in will be 100 dollars. I live near a Hard Rock casino that will put full usage into this law by having a no limit 1/2 game.

Is buying in to a 1/2nl game for only 100 dollars worth playing, grinding even?

How should I play differently with a half stack?

Thanks guys, these games will probably be hella soft and I think I could clean up if it’s worth playing.

rebuy often when you go low. The game will play just like a 1/2 with a 200 cap - except the pots will likely be smaller. Adjust bet sizes accordingly.

Also I recommend you read about Ed Miller's short stack strategy in Getting Started in Hold'em, a beginners book but it contains some great theory on the game.

I'm stoked about the new stakes. Fish as far as the eye can see. I would never let my stack drop below $50 on a hand but I have heard that you HAVE to buy in for $100 and you can't reload until you go to $0 or something. That's just a rumor though, dunno if its true. I think they will be goldmines.

It depends upon the juice. Florida is notorious for astronomical juice and I ain't talking orange juice.

QFT.

As far as grinding it out, I imagine it plays like the $80 buy in 1-2 game at Pechanga(San Diego)that I sat in for a few hours since it seemed sooooo fishy but the $4 rake combined with the huge variance was more than I wanted to deal with. Just be prepared for multiple callers on your huge($15~$25)pfr and don't be suprised to see ATC at showdown.

I don't think they'll change it so I'd expect it to be max $5+$1 for jackpot drop. They will probably stick to raping players on tourneys though.

At the bike in LA the $100NL is 2/3 so you're in much better shape. I think that game will be hugely popular.

The Luxor has a $50-max game with blinds of 1-1-2 and the worst players anywhere. The game is worth $20+/hour (yes, I have seen actual stats with actual number and no I'm not going to say who or where). This game will be worth playing if the rake is not absurd (which it almost certainly will be).

Thanks for your input guys. When July comes around i'll tell you how it goes down. I sure hope you're wrong Russ M about the whole waiting untill you bust to be able to add on/rebuy, that would be horrible.

I'm just sick of live tournaments and wanna play something different that doesn't as bad. I'm pretty sure Florida is getting closer and closer to allowing full casino gambling altogether, just a matter of time. I guess i have to wait for a better law to pass to get real excited, which shouldnt be too long.

Thanks again.
