who carries a sub 15* 3 wood or strong 3 wood

Like any true gambler I almost always try to get on in 2 on a par 5 even if course management tells me not to.

been thinking about getting one but there are maybe 3 holes at my regular course that I might use it. If added of course I'll have to drop either my 2 iron, 60* wedge or my gap W but I use the gap quite often so I think that stays.

Also keep in mind it's a canyon course with lots of wind in the afternoon and there are 1 maybe 2 long uphill par 4's

I've never seen anyone carry one...but then again, I don't know anyone that uses a 2i anymore either so...I dunno. My initial reaction is that if you need to use a sub-15* 3 wood, you should not even think about going for it in 2.

I carry a 13.5* 3w and it's for the worse, I got it as a hand-me-down and I'm too cheap to buy a new one, even though I need it.

Hitting it off the tee is fine but fairway is tough, especially since I'm not very good

I carried an 11* Orlimar 3 wood for a while. HATED IT. Of course it was sold to me by a friend after I hit an absolutely perfect shot in a scramble, then it went on to let me down pretty much forever. Then a friend gave me his 13* Orlimar, same exact style and I sucked with that too. Could have been the shafts though more than anything, but regardless I was so bad with it them I had the worst swing thoughts every time, and that couldn't have helped.

I have a 13 degree Titleist fairway and a 2 iron and use them both.

FYI, to hit the ball farther you need to create a better trajectory, less loft isnt always the case, if I had it to do over I would have gotten the 15 degree, they actually have newer shallower face fairways(the F4) which may do better for me, I hit a strong draw so my lower lofted clubs dont always carry great, but thats me.

I bought a Callaway Steelhead Plus 3,5,7 set with a strong 3 (14 degree, I think) years ago.

I like it a lot, but it's my 15th club, lent it to my nephew and HE WON'T GIVE IT BACK!

Good distance and accuracy.
Great off the tees when the driver is off.

I have a 13 degree Mizuno that I kill. The only problem is you need a decent lie to hit it off the fairway. I would pull the 2 iron if you wanted to add one.

I used to carry a 13* 3wd back when I played every day, but
I used it alot off the tee, and
I played a softer ball that spun more which helped it in the air.

And I've always had a high ball flight.

I don't think it carried more than a 15* under most circumstances, but I had confidence with it into the wind, and it would roll farther when I turned it over.

Now I hit a 15* 3 wd., but I hit more Drivers off the tee than I did back then.
