NL50: Is this the spot to go broke with TPTK against a TAG?
Villain is 17/14/4 over 330 hands. I'm making my decision on the flop as to whether or not I'm taking it to the felt, I only called because I wanted him to put more money in and commit himself on the turn. Does anybody not get it in here?

He's shown a lot of strength and I would fold this. I don't think you'll see KQ or QJ here, what do you beat?

Re: NL50: Is this the spot to go broke with TPTK against a TAG?
I really don't like this play. Villain seems to be a solid player and I can really only see you tied with him at best. While KQ is possible, I don't think villain calls your all-in with anything less than AQ. It looks more like A4s.
Think about it: You've clearly shown strength (you called his c/r on the flop, so he knows you have at least a Q, if not AA or KK). There are no draws. And yet, he fires at you again on the turn. Again, I don't think he calls your all-in with anything less than AQ. It seems like you've played several hands with villain, so if it seems like he's tilting or he's seen you be overaggressive recently, there is a slight chance he would play KQ like this. |

Yeah, I guess I have seen too many of these TAGs c/r'ing me OOP with air a lot lately, and that kind of clouded my judgment a bit and I paid off quadzilla here.

Re: NL50: Is this the spot to go broke with TPTK against a TAG?
I don't think you played it badly at all. Now, normally, this line against a TAG is pretty lousy, but your tag isn't flat calling with QQ+ pf, nor many 4x hands. A4s/suited connector 4 maaaaaybe, and that's barely enough to make this a thunker -- well, that and the super monster he ended up having. I've seen tags misplay hands as often.
Answer, yes, I think this is one of those rare cases where you can comfortably go broke against a tag with bare TPTK. I'd like it better if you didn't post that BB called. I'm trying to imagine this hand without seeing that in there, but it's hard. |

I don't think many tags are leading this turn with anything you beat very often.
