Default stock my bar

you have $500 to spend on liquors. no beer allowed. mixers, etc that are not alcoholic do not count towards your $ limit, but please post them anyway. i have no use for scotch.

im in college, and don't need really expensive stuff, just quality. (eg dont need ketel, smirnoff will work just fine).

ps ZOMG im drunk. been drinking screwdrivers alone in my room at home...

The three articles on the subject from www.drinkboy.com are a great place to start. The site seems broken right now, but hopefully it'll be back soon.

you're in college?

-gin: tanqueray or bombay
-vodka: absolut or stoli, smirnoff if you want to go cheaper, local [censored] brand if you want to put it in spodi
-tequila: sauza hornitos, sauza blanco if you want to put it in the blender
-rum: i'm not a rum fan, anything does for me since it's just going in the blender.
-Irish whiskey: gotta have something manly, I like Powers.
-Triple sec: Cointreau/Grand Marnier, local brand if you're putting it in the blender
-Dekuyper Apple Schnapps
-Frangelico
-Jagermeister
-Bailey's Irish Cream
-Kahlua
-Hypnotiq
-Parrot Bay Coconut rum (or malibu)

THat's all I can think of off the top of my head. Several of the suggestions at the end assume you occaisonally have girls over.

Mixers
TOnic Water
OJ
Coke
Sour Mix
Lime Juice
Cranberry Juice

tilt, its for me plus girlies.

i know that you might not be all that familiar with girls, so any advice that you might have should be limited to "cap the turn".

wtf is wrong with screwdrivers? all i have at my disposal is vodka and limited mixers in my house. i have orange juice, coke (not bad actually), and gatorade.

ps harvard sucks

if i'm sober enough to remember tonight, i will give you a list. i think $500 is overkill but would def be enough to pimp your bar. can i pull off saying "pimp your bar?" maybe not. i don't know much about the girlies, i confess, usually it just takes one hand for me to go busto.

Here are my picks to help you get started:

Base Spirits:
<ul type="square">[*]Vodka: Fris is the clear choice.[*]Gin: Tanqueray, Bombay Sapphire, and Plymoth are all good mid-grade choices. Seagrams is acceptable if you think you're spending too much here.[*]Bourbon/Tennessee Whiskey: Knob Creek (harsh, most complex), Eagle Rare (Very smooth), Maker's Mark (lightest), and George Dickel (earthy, cheapest) are all solid picks for a college bar.[*]Rum: Mount Gay Barbados rum is excellent. Cruzan Estate Light rum is also a good pick for a light rum. I costs the same as Bacardi, and tastes much better.[*]Tequila: I like Xalixco for the money, but it may be hard to find. Basically, maximize the percentage of agave amidst the stuff you can find for as much as you're willing to spend here. [*]Brandy: Paul Masson VSOP is really good and quite cheap.
Auxiliaries:
<ul type="square">[*]Cointreau[*]Angostura Bitters[*]Malibu[*]Kahlua[*]Creme de Minthe (white)[*]Creme de Cacao (also white)[*]Sweet and dry vermouth[*]Rose's Lime and Grenadine[*]I guess Jager, because college people seem to love it for whatever reason.[*]Irish cream (if you're a pimp, you make your own).
That's a pretty solid start. Beyond that, the sky's the limit in terms of flavored vodkas, fruity cordials, weird herbal liqueurs, and more expensive versions of the above. However, you might want to dedicate some of that $500 to keeping your bar stocked rather than just stocking it the first time.
