Default I call an UTG nit raise in pos with 69s, hit FD and fold to turn bet.

I figured that since this guy has such nitty stats, his range is tight and I get more implied odds for my suited 2-gapper. And I can try to outplay him if I don't hit.

Is preflop bad? How about the turn fold? I'm thinking that he's pricing me out 'cause he won't pay me off sufficiently if the flush hits. I need him to pay me about $25 on the river for the call to be breakeven. Anything above that is profit. Do you think this guy's calling a $40 bet on the river if the flush hits?

this flop would be a good spot to "pull a move"

But he's giving me such a good price. And I risk him 3betting, which I can't call.

Yes it is. It's much easier get the implied odds I need while the pot is this small.

I don't see what's so great about raising the flop. The only FE I have is vs AK/AQ, which I have good equity against anyways, and position.

I'll make it 18 on this flop most times. This guy can get away from a ton of hands, as well as his overs that beat you as well. Also, with bigger pot, he's more likely to call you if flush hits.

Also, if you just call his flop bet, he's probably going to c/c with overpairs, and he may even fire a second barrel with overs (tho unlikely from nit).

So yeah, i like a flop raise. as played, fold turn.

I think preflop is bad- since when do we play 3-gappers? Anyway checkraise flop to make it more likely for you to get paid off when your flush cards hit, and like everyone says, as played, fold turn.

Wolfram - The idea behind raising the flop isn't just to fold out AK/AQ, it's that you'll often get a free card on the turn when you're behind (should you choose to take it).

If you get 3bet, yah, most likely you'll have to release.

Most importantly, though - is you need to ask yourself why you are playing a hand like 96 against this opponent. You know he has a tight range, and you're giving up a HUGE preflop equity edge here when playing this hand. If you're only willing to spray some chips around when you make a straight or a flush, you probably should just not play this hand in the first place. You need to be stealing some pots with this kind of junk hand against this nitty opponent to make it worth it - and this is a good spot to try.

If you're not going to mix it up, though, it's totally okay to just fold preflop.

free card LDO, he's not going to fold to a bet on a blank turn, he'll be able to put us on a hand, but we get the free card

i mean, you shouldn't necessarilly always always take the free card, but this would prob. be a good spot for it
