One good thing about the Sahara is that there's a monorail station right there, which makes it easy to get to other parts of the strip.

Although you've already decided, I'd like to add that I'm probably going to end up booking a room at one of the Emerald Suites properties. Off the beaten path but they all have (intermittent, so I've heard) shuttles to both the strip and the airport. Also kitchens which will save $$ on dining out if you're not averse to grocery shopping while on vacation.

Gotta be the IP.

It is genuinely walkable to Caesars, Venetian, Mirage and Bellagio for quality poker rooms (I did it frequently in the July heat this year), and also to Harrahs, Flamingo, TI and Ballys for less impressive poker rooms.

It also has a monorail stop for getting to the other strip locations.

As it is due to be imploded soon, it is likely that the rates will get even cheaper. Stay there this year, because next year it will be gone!

Just make sure that, under no circumstances do you eat at any of the IP restaurants! Even if you have free vouchers for the buffet, it is stil -EV!

IP. Great location, price, and good comps for those late night drunken low limit poker moments.
