Raised on river, is this a fold?
Hand history is unclear, I have to edit it because it's from a boss site. It's 4 handed and I can't find what read I had on this villain (site is a bit messy), so he's unknown atm. I'm on the button, he's in the BB.

Re: Raised on river, is this a fold?
looks like you're hoping villain c/r the river with KJ or less then, not an A, Q or better.
I can't see long term calling of river c/r's here for a hopeful chop being +EV. |

Re: Raised on river, is this a fold?
The river c/r makes no sense to me after the turn getting checked through, so I would probably call it because I showdown too much anyway and tend to think my opponents are not trustworthy when they do something that makes no sense.
On the other hand, I think it's an interesting discussion of whether to bet the river in the first place, although at game time, I'm sure I would have bet this myself. I guess you need to give worse hands a chance to call, but given the action preflop and on the flop, it's hard to give him a large range of worse hands that would call here. I think it's far more likely that we lose or chop when called than win. The interesting thing is that I fear the c/r less than a call, which is why I think it's OK to call the raise once you do bet, though. The c/r after the turn checks through just seems too strange. As an aside, you might want to look into formatting your hands (even without a converter) to a more conventional format if you're going to post many of them. |

Re: Raised on river, is this a fold?
Sigh, I miss this network a lot. Anyway I probably call it because people tend to be idiots. I have no idea what he plays like that. At first I wanted to say a missed turn c/r, but then he likely would have bet river. Yeah, I probably call just to see what he has a make a note, though it's likely some horribly misplayed Qx or boat type hand.

Flop bet and turn check are pretty standard right?
