Default daugherty/mcevoy NL

what do people think of the advice in this book?......

the book is somewhat lacking. barely gets into hitting sets. and most examples are playing premium pre-flop hands.

but premium pre-flop hands and overcard/danger flops hitting is probably your most common situation if you play TAG....

so what do people actually think of the advice that's there, independent of what situations it doesn't cover?...... and i know someone will say "how can you trust anything from the authors when they barely talk about set mining/farming?". also, this book is miles away from cloutier/mcevoy. D/Mc has lots and lots of examples.

thanks in advance!!

This is a very underrated book that somehow to lost in the mix of a lot of new NL holdem books. Mason Malmuth gave it a score of 8 out of 10. In other words, it is recommended.

It is a beginners book that does a good job of teaching basics like the gap concept and classifying player types and how they can help shape your decisions. I think it should be read simultaneously with Getting Started in Holdem by Ed Miller.
