Default Live Game: How to extract max value from a good player

This game has a weird structure, blinds are 1-2 and 5 is the minimum to come in - what this means is, a player can limp for 5, and the blinds can fold. This game generally plays very passively, small raises and lots of players to the flops. Very few even decent players populate this game, the villain is one of the few good players I've encountered there.

Hero is BB with A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Villain opens for $15 UTG+1, all fold to Hero, who raises to $45. At that point, villain says "I think I just stepped on a monster" and calls.

Hero has about $420 in front to start the hand, villain has around $275.

Flop is A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

Hero checks, villain bets $30, hero calls.

Turn is J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

Hero checks, villain checks.

River is 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

Hero???

I would appreciate comments on all streets here, especially the flop. I think that I could have played this much better. Thanks for the comments in advance.

I lead out the flop, at least $50. You want to bet so that if he has a hand, we can get it all in. As played, terrible. That $30 bet into 90 is trying to see if you have KK/QQ and if he can push you off with the ace on the flop, or something like that. You have to know he is checknig behind the turn if you call here. I raise.

If you just call flop, lead out turn for half pot or more, get some money in.

If you make it to the riv, bet half pot of so.

It looks like villian wants a cheap showdown here, maybe with AK, the one hand that will pay you off somewhat. So bet and make him decide. If he has JJ, say nice hand and rebuy

His comment should lead you to believe he has a decent hand as well, JJ-KK or AK. So I would lead the flop, for at least 50. You are only getting action if he has an ace, JJ, or decides to get frisky and outplay you. If he calls the flop, I would check the turn to show a bit of weakness, as any hand but AA and JJ would be afraid of the paired J on board, giving him a chance to bluff into you. If he does bet the turn, raise it because a smooth call will scare him into shutting down. If he checks behind bet the river, about 1/2-2/3 pot. If he has quads, nothing you can do but lose your money.

I LMAO at this comment - but I usually try to keep the trash talk down to a low roar....

Thank you for your responses - I knew I effed it up badly, especially the flop check. I appreciate the help, as I know I need it.
