Bet Size Question after Slowplaying KK
2/5 Live. 10 handed. $480 effective. My image is non-existant. Just recently sat and haven't really played a pot yet. Villain is aggro young guy. He just 4-bet shoved AKs for a buy-in and lost ~500 to KK a few hands ago.
Hero is btn w/ KK. Straddled for $10 preflop. Folded to villain in CO who makes it $30, I call, rest fold. FLOP($75)Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Villain bets $40, Hero raises to $140 as he gives a speech about having the best hand. TURN($355)8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Villain checks, Hero has ~$320 left... |

[ QUOTE ] this is a MUST raise preflop. [/ QUOTE ] why? [/ QUOTE ] the guy is clearly agro preflop, not many people get it in preflop live with AK for 100bbs, let him put a move on you, or think you are pushing him around. You dont flatcall this in an online game, why do it live? |

[/ QUOTE ] dont forget its also a straddled and raise pot, so there is a decent amount of money in there for the taking --- dragging the pot now is fine. in addition, you have position -- play big pots in position. you have kk and an aggro player that could potentially put you on a steal (i realize you have no image) could do something stupid and that stupidity will be magnified in a larger pot. |

His range is enormous here and I feel like I will maximize against his range by disguising my hand. To be real honest, I'm not interested in discussing preflop. |

Re: Bet Size Question after Slowplaying KK
i think the only time i would flat call here is if people are constantly straddling and defending their straddles (this doesnt sound like the case). if you have reason to believe the straddle/BB will attempt a squeeze play cold calling is sexy.

Re: Bet Size Question after Slowplaying KK
why would you do anything besides push?
were you thinking about making a donkish bet like 140 again to induce a push over the top? also i think PF is fine. if the blinds are paying attention to this guy at all youre giving them a great oppurtunity to sueeze with any 2, and then you can push. anyway playing HU in position in a raised isnt such a bad thing |
