I wouldnt lead out on the flop. But as played your fold is fine.

I like check-calling flop so we can get a cbet out of AK etc.

You should raise preflop. He's a tight aggressive player and you won't have position postflop.
Furthermore the pot will be higher if he just calls and you will take the pot on flop like this if he has AK and you cbet 3/4 / the pot.

If he has AA or KK he'll probably reraise you preflop (but it seems he has AK here)
