Default Help against spam

No, not spam in the forum, but rather for my e-mail. My school e-mail is bombarded with retarded ads from Nigerians and watches and Viagras. I clicked on "unsubscribe" but they just keep coming. Help a fella out

Stop throwing your e-mail address up on every website you come across.

Just keep clicking unsubscribe. I'm sure they'll feel bad and stop eventually.

I would imagine clicking unsubscribe is the worst thing ever.

This shows that your email address is active.

does your school offer any kind of filtering? if not, you might just be better off forwarding it all to an offsite mailbox that does.

if you have unix shell access, you also might be able to setup a copy of spam assassin in your home directory and use procmail to filter all your email through spam assassin.

use gmail. you can get all your mail from other addresses forwarded to gmail which does a great job filtering spam.

Yes, it does. I purged all the spam and ended up with about 800 in 2 weeks. Gmail rocks.

quit clicking unsubscribe, all it does is let them know your email address is an actual valid address that someone checks, they will only send you more

Also, someone please explain to me why email spam is such a huge deal? Everyone gets upset about it, there are meetings in congress over it, its illegal to do it. Yet no one gives a [censored] about the 2 tons of crap I get in my actual real mailbox, ads and flyers and missing children and all kinds of stupid [censored]. wtf??? Email spam isnt even annoying, if you have a decent program it all gets filtered out and it takes like .05 seconds to delete, real mail spam is annoying. It fills up my mailbox, so when the ahole postman shoves all the crap in there my real letters get bent and torn. I have to actually spend time sifting through all the crap to make sure I dont throw something important away. And no one gives a crap about that!! wtf?!?!?
