Norton or McAfee?

So I just got a new dell. It came with a trial version of McAfee which I have no prior experience with. I've always been a Norton Utilities guy. No particular reason, just the way it is.

So, CTH forum, what's the f'n difference? Is one particularly better than the other? Are there certain features of one that should sway me?

I am your average Joe home computer user. Innanet, poker, pics and vids, you know, plain vanilla through and through.

Impart unto me your wisdom. Which way should I go and why?

Is just anti-virus or a whole suite? If it is a whole suite I would junk either of them. I had to pull Norton off my new Vista box because it was too slow and too much of a pita. I'm trying Windows One Care and liking it.

Thanks for that. Never heard of it, surprising since I'm such a MS whore. Keeping in the MS family should be a good idea for standard easy-going home use.

Some on here recommended Kaspersky.... low footprint, accurate and up to date virus protect. Am giving it a try on new system now.

AVG and Kaspersky seem to be the favorites of not only this forum but also the tech geeks of the world. I've been an avid AVG fan for years. The free version has worked wonderfully for myself and every customer I've installed it for.

A quick note: The MS OneCare scored dead last on a recent antivirus evaluation. Surprising to many Norton and McAfee did very well however, that still doesn't excuse them for the resource hogs they are and the way they try to take control of any pc they are running on.
