Default WTF News and Commentary

Subtitled: It takes all kinds to make a world.

There's so much just plain WTF news in this world that, for the most part, we'll never see. Crazy, disturbing, or just plain odd things are happening all over the place.

If you see some news item that just makes you say 'What the F***', post it in here. Let's see what we get....

From Chuck Shepherd's News of the Weird comes this dandy:
[ QUOTE ]
The Kibera neighborhood in Nairobi, Kenya, and the Dahravi section of Mumbai, India, are two of the planet's most appalling slums, but residents have recently discovered well-off international visitors roaming their toxic, fetid urban hells as voyeurs on travel agency-arranged tours. "(T)hey want to come and take pictures ... tell their friends they've been to the worst slum in Africa,"

[/ QUOTE ]
"Honey, how about we take the kids to Disney this summer"
"No way, that's prime slum season!"

I can see going there on some sort of Peace Corps thing, but a tour through a travel agency? Holy crap!

Here's a local story involving the Mohegan Sun Casino.

[ QUOTE ]
A Boston man was found hiding Tuesday in a women's bathroom at Mohegan Sun casino, where he allegedly vandalized a stall so he could look into the adjacent one, police said Wednesday.

[/ QUOTE ]

Geez, I know there are twistes sex freaks out there, but c'mon, you gonna try to pull this off in a CASINO!!!! Wow, doubt there'd be any surveillance there buddy...

WTF???

UK Sailors taken by Iran gunmen

Apparently while on routine work in Iraqi waters.

This could have some very serious implications for all of us. Oil prices have gone up already.

OK, my wtf-story is not gross or disturbing. But this kind of stuff drives me nuts! I don't know why. I seem to be the only one who cares. I ask my friends about it and they are like "God, who cares."

Angelina Adopts Yet Again!

[ QUOTE ]
"You can imagine what courage it takes to be in all new surroundings with new people and a new language. He is very strong," Jolie says in the new issue of Hello magazine, on stands Thursday. "He is a very serious, very sweet little boy."

[/ QUOTE ]

One of my friends actually defended Angelina. He said "She's a celebrity, what do you expect? She has a lot of time and money. This is what makes her happy." I'm like you have got to be kidding! Who on earth needs 4 kids under the age of 5 (or is it 6)? And to always be traveling and meeting with important people....well, isn't she just a little busy? Am I the only one who cares about this stuff?!!

Didn't she just "buy" a boy? This is like collecting cute doggies as far as I'm concerned. Maybe I'm off-base, I don't know.

Parents of young uns - Would it be hard to give adequate attention to 4 kids under the age of 6?

When I was a kid my brother and I (9 and 7 years old, respectively) wanted to see "Skid Row" in Los Angeles. We heard about it on the local news (and did not really appreciate what it was).

I still haven't been there, but I can still dream, can't I?

This story has been developing for some time. The defendant's lawyer actually made the argument that once the animal dies, it ceases to be an animal. Therefore, defendant cannot have violated the statute that forbids sex, etc. with an "animal."

Defendant lost that argument.
