Default Midsize Luxury SUV.

I am wanting to get a midsize luxury suv. I don't really want to buy a new one. I'd preferably like to keep the price under 30k.

I'm going to look at aviators and BMW x3s for sure, as well as the smaller Lexus SUV. Are there any other cars I should definitely test drive? I'm thinking one that is 1-3 years old.

What cars do you recommend and what year should I be looking at buying?

thanks.

A 1 or 2 year old Lexus RX330 would probably be a good choice. The interiors are gorgeous (when new, at least) and they're very nice. This would be far and away my top recommendation.

Range Rovers are nice, but they still have some issues with quality. I also think that's a bit more than 30k.

BMW X5s are also nice. I'd personally go with a Lexus over that, but then again I really like Lexus in general. You could probably find a 2 or 3 year old one in your price range. I wouldn't get an X3, they're much smaller and aren't as useful. They're also more "cute."

The Benz equivilent of what you're looking for is the ML350. they start at around 45k, though, so I'm not sure how far back you'd have to go to find one for 30k. They're pretty nice, but I'd go with an RX330 or X5 before the Benz. The ride is a bit more cushy, and you're more likely to have problems, but the interiors are very luxurious.

You could also look at Toyota Highlanders (very similar to the Lexus RX300, but not as luxurious) or the Volkswagon Touareg as someone else suggested. Perhaps even a Nissan Murano, although that would be lower on the list for me.

Lincoln Aviators are pretty nice. Don't know too much about them, though, so I can't help you there.

Hope this helps.

A Denali might also be an option, but I would probably go with an RX300.

RX330 >> RX300. If you're gonna get the Lexus, I would strongly advise you to get the 330 over the 300. Exterior and interior are both much better on the 330, and it's more powerful. Might be a tad more expensive, but that would just be because it's newer.
