Default $25 NL Pokerstars hand reviews Part 1

Okay here's the thing. I'm 6-maxing $10NL & $25NL anywhere from 2-4 tables, and I'm a little confused and frustrated at $10NL I am beating the game for about 2.15 bb/100 over 30K hands, however I am losing at $25NL 3.52 bb/100 over 5K hands.

I have been stuck at around $800 for almost a month, I get up to $875, drop to $825, get up to $850, drop to $790, get up to $830, drop to $810 and son on.

So, I'm going through and finding some hands I had some trouble with figuring out where I am and the line I should take.

So please be patient, these will be posted across a few different threads, so they won't all be in just on thread.

And I am not just posting "bad beats," I'm posting hands that seriously confused me.

I will try to give reads when I have them.

Hand 1

I raise to about 5 on the flop and then try to get it all in on the turn. He probably has an ace, but probably not AJ (just based on the chances of that with AJ on the flop, it's more likely he has AK, AQ, AT etc.) As played, I call the turn and shove the river if he bets.

Hand 2

Probably a grudging laydown. You can call here with the Kd for backup but I think folding is safer.

Hand 3

Stop. Think about it. What the hell did he do that with preflop that you're ahead of that you now aren't? Obv. nothing. So either you played preflop badly and he's got a big pair, or he's firing a c-bet with AK, AQ etc. and you should be happy. It's tough to pick a bet size. Most raises get you into a mess because you either have to shove (in which case he either calls and murders you or chucks his AK. Sometimes he calls with A8 etc., but that's not much here). Pot is 14 with your call, and villain has ~18. No way you raise/fold this. Either fold now or go for it. I'd favour calling and shoving (either over the top or open) on the turn (probably not if an A hits). Based on the read you gave, he's not often crushing you here.

Do bear in mind I only play at 10NL and I play longhand, but that's what I'd do.

Thx man, here's a bump hoping for more discussion.

Sorry if it's too long to read, I figured this way was better than doling out one post at a time.

why are you posting these all in one thread? I don't see any reason to post 4 hands in one thread unless (1) They're all against the same opponent and the first three hands are shown to help us establish a read or (2) they're variations of the same situation.

Agreed. Personally I hate bothering to read through more than 2 hands in one post and try to give a good response. Even two I'm not a big fan of, unless they're related (similar situation/same villain, etc).

Because I figured it would be better than having about 20 different threads over the next two days...these are just 4 of many hands I want to discuss.

but you guys are right, it's far more constructive to debate how many hands to post per thread, than to discuss the hands involved.

My standard pre-flop raise is 4 BB's + 1 BB per limper.

Hand 1: I like just calling on the flop. Give him rope...let him hang himself. I would also just call on the turn....then shove all-in over his bet on the river.

Hand 2:

Flop: I'd raise the flop bigger...like 9 - 9.5. Flop's pretty drawy and there's 2 guys in there....I htink a pot sized raise would be good.

Turn: What did sb do? Whatever it was though I don't think it changes what you should do. Fold. His AF is low even for someone who plays as many hands as he does. He's overbetting all-in when the diamond hits and presumably there are still 2 people in the hand to act after him.

Hand 3: Pre-flop is ok if he 3bets real light though I think that's like right at the bottom of your range. I would just call the flop I think. If he's real aggressive I likely call turn if he shoves too as it will be about pot size. Getting into a kinda tricky situation here.

Hand 4: I call the turn. I probably fold to a pot sized or overbet or push on river. I probably call $3 or less. He is gonna have a 9 a decent amount though. He could, however, also have other mid-pairs.

You really will get significantly fewer replies and discussion of the hands by posting multiple unrelated hands in the same thread.
