You have to raise him sometimes on the flop, you can't always wait for the turn, because you are gonna raise the nuts (sometimes) and you have to balance

orange, fair enough...that is exactly what I used to think but somebody (cant remember who) and I exchanged posts and I ended up changing my mind...now I am confused again.

So are you only hoping to get value from a bluff? I guess bet turn vs passives and check it vs TAGs???

[/ QUOTE ]
betting the turn is fine to give more credit to your floats (ie. mixing your ranges to where your betting the turn with your stronger hands and not just air), but checking the turn is usually my std.

vs this player id probably rather just raise the flop though, wouldnt you?

[/ QUOTE ]

No, I'd rather just call since he doesn't double-barrell.

[/ QUOTE ]

yes, but if he doesnt double barell and gives up on a lot of turns he will probaby give up on the flop since he doesnt ever have much. agree?

Yes, he'll often fold to the flop raise too. However, the point is that against a player who is as predictable as the one described, it is cheaper to bluff call than to bluff raise, but we find out the same information either way.

Isn't it obvious?

If you raise the flop when he cbets, you are risking the size of your raise. He calls/reraises if he has a monster, folds if he doesn't. If you float, he check/folds the turn and you take down the pot without risk(because you are assuming 1/2-full pot bet will almost guarantee he folds and that he wouldn't check the turn on any reasonable hand)

I like a raise a lot more than a float against this type of player. If you pick your spots right, you'll get them frustrated enough to get paid in spots you shouldn't.

i hate floating, its rare where you'll find me doing so

1 is good, 2 is bad bc everyone takes a pair to showdown and if the flush misses some ppl like showing down ace high, 3 is very bad, 4 is ok, 5 is bad.
