Do I beat his range in this RR pot.
Villan is a thinking aggro 28/20. Stacked me once in a cooler.
Am I ahead of his range? If so, which street do we felt on? Re: Do I beat his range in this RR pot.
question: if we opened in the co or button (obv making his 3 bet range considerably wider) can we shove here?

I don't think you're ahead of his range. You beat only missed overcards, 99 and 88. You're flipping overcard clubs, and crushed by all else. I don't like calling here because if you flat call half your stack is in the pot and you will certainly be put to a decision on the turn, which is going to be a bad card for your hand a ton of the time.

Re: Do I beat his range in this RR pot.
I don't think calling is a good option here because there are tons of scare cards that come and you will have no idea whether youre good or not. If you're calling a 3bet to this guy, this is a pretty good flop for you. I don't see how you can fold to a cbet, so I think pushing is the best play. It's pretty close though.

Re: Do I beat his range in this RR pot.
I like a shove here. His reraise size/bet size are somewhat oversized and you're just shy of 100BB deep, which makes call/reevaluate a less viable option.
In general my standard is to call and re-evaluate, but that's better if you've got more wiggle room on the turn. My murky understanding of why is: I'm in position, I'm roughly as good as my opponent (or better), and therefore I gain more by seeing the next card and making him play another street OOP. But I digress. Here if we call the pot size on the turn will be 138 + 114 + 114 = 366, and we will have only 204 left in our stack, which makes shoving now better. He only needs to fold about 1/3 of the time to make shoving profitable by my calculations: Pot Size after he bets: 138 + 114 = 252 Left to Shove: 386 - 68 = 318 Pot Size if He Calls: 386*2 = 772 Equity when called (varies a bit depending on how many combos of random clubs you assign) : Board: 5c 7c 2s Hand 0: 28.290% { TdTs } Hand 1: 71.710% { 99+, AcKc, AcQc, AcJc, KcQc, KcTc, QcJc } Let X = probability of fold Shove EV(0) = (X)(252) + (1-X)(0.283*772 - 318) X = 30.3%. If I'm in the CO/button I'm felting this without hesitation against a 28/20 laggish player because I want him to know he can't run me over and his range is so much wider (obviously). In the HJ it becomes quite a bit closer, since he knows your range is tighter, his range is stronger, and he'll be checking a decent amount of his AK/AQ. A read could definitely swing this. In conclusion though, Shove. His calling range is only 3.2% of combos, he needs to fold 1/3 of the time, he's a 28/20 LAG, I have an overpair 100BB deep in a reraised pot, and a call pot commits me here anyway. |
