Default AQ from SB - WTF? Wasn\'t I the aggressor?

Hand from $3R+A. BB seems better than average for this level, haven't really pegged EP limper since I've got three more tournaments in focus.

Stacks:
Hero (SB): ~T37000
BB: ~T42000
UTG+2: ~T22000
AVG: ~T20000
Blinds: 300/600

Hero is dealt A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] in SB
UTG+2 open-limps. Folded to Hero who raises to 3000. BB calls and so does UTG+2.

Flop: A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

Hero decides to check and represent fear of the ace. BB bets out 3600 into a pot of 9000. UTG+2 shoves his stack. Hero???

I know it might be a bit of a FPS trying to represent specific hands in a low buy-in tournament while it's still quite early. But the questions are... What does UTG+2 limp-call and then shove on a rather dry flop? What does BB bet small on this flop? If there was two of a suit I would suspect the usual flush draw.

I don't even know what to do here, I probably say LOL $3 rebuy and shove but for some reason I want to give one of them credit and fold.

yeah i know what you mean but i would probably just put them both on any ace (especially utg+2) and shove

of course, this is why i just lead the flop so i have actual information to go on instead of trying to set a trap and then reinterpret if i'm now being trapped or what

BB has an ace with weak kicker but it smells like 88 (or even 22) for utg+2 there. People like to shove early with sets on lower buyins.

If you check repping ace-fear, you have to call UTG+2. If you are pfr and lead this flop, BB raises and UTG+2 shoves, you could probably fold, although I wouldn't in the $3r anyway.

I far prefer leading this flop for the reason nath said here. As played, lol $3r and probably fold.

I'm definitely clear about leading the flop, that got to me as soon as I had checked and witnessed the action. In a low buy-in tourney, you should lead here because:

1. Mixing up plays will almost always go unnoticed and therefore has no future value.
2. At least one of the opponents will call a flop bet with an inferior hand.
3. You'll most certainly know if you're beat when they raise a flop bet from the aggressor on such a dry flop.

Question is if it's a call or a fold as played? In this very case I was behind both. BB had 88 and UTG+2 limp-called with AK.

Hm... Tough spot! But I think I would give one of them credit here for a better hand: BB is betting out into a player after him left to act and you at least PF raising and checking to him...

Also UTG+2 limp-calling and raising at this spot shows strength IMO, because I don't think he thinks BB is betting out here with nothing... Lol @3$R if they push you off your hand with AJ and A9o but I'd probably find a fold here... and take a note if you made a bad fold (in general I think it's a good one, because of positional things mentioned)

Oh, I call this. I call this also if I lead out and get raised. The only reasonable hands you are behind are 88, 22, and A8.

You checked indicating it wasn't worth betting into two players with JJ. BB bet small, and UTG+2 pushed. UTG+2 probably has an ace, or he thinks he can take the pot with a push.

Plus, this is the 3r and everyone plays like maniacs at this stage.

I don't mind the initial check as long as your plan is to get allin regardless.
