Notes on Vista + PT + PAHUD
I like me the new computers so I used Vista as an excuse to get a new machine. Here is what I've done vis a vis poker:
PT: When you download it and run it the first time to get the ID number to send in for the key make sure you run it as Admin or the ID number will change the next time you open it. In fact, just run any poker stuff as admin all the time. PAHUD - Don't turn on flicka free drawing for Stars (probably everything else too) or it will lock out at least one of your tables. Again, just always launch these as admin, use the right click menu. PokerStars - It decided it needed to be ran as admin at some point in the install and the icon has the little sheild on it, still running it as admin. Overall, I like having the faster machine. Two windows of Stars, PT, HUD, Outlook, Explorer, and Prime95 chugging in the back ground and it is like butta. Vista is very pretty and arguably the best OS Windows has put out, for whatever that means to you. |

let's see some screen shots [/ QUOTE ] Alrighty then. Here is a basic desktop view: Full size And another Full Size Here is the new start window, it doesn't get any wider than this. Full Size Here is the task bar with a window preview (it is a live window, if that was a video playing in WMP you could watch it really tiny). Full Size Here is the new Windows Explorer Full Size The My Computer view (although they dropped the "My" from everthing this time round) Full Size And finally, an ironic desktop that shows the thumbnail views in folders. Full Size The weird thing is that at the moment you can't change the color of the Taskbar. Overall I like it but I wouldn't have tried to put it on my other desktop. |

Re: Notes on Vista + PT + PAHUD
are the calendar/clock/weather things on the right standard to vista or are those just some widgets you have?

Re: Notes on Vista + PT + PAHUD
The top one is a processer/memory monitor for dual core processers, the standard one doesn't break out the cores. The bottom one is for monitoring Outlook, but I'm not real happy with it. I got those from where ever Vista sends you to look for new gadgets. Installing them is a one or two click deal. Very similar to installing widgets on OS X.

Re: Notes on Vista + PT + PAHUD
No prob. I've got a spare CF card in the build in reader and it is using some of it but I haven't really noticed anything. What I've read on the tubes about it is that it does work after Vista has a while to figure out what to put there.
I'm pretty sure all it uses it for is pre-fetching some info for apps you use often instead of going to the slower hard disk to get it. As it figures out what you use it will get better at it. |
