Be happy you are not from Virginia, as I believe the new state laws would require a $1000 fine on top of what you have to pay if you were a state resident. I believe we have a road construction funding problem here in my fine state, and this is the state's way of getting cash.

I'd fight it.. since I-75 doesn't go through Virginia at any point.

yeah, my girlfriend was saying that if i got caught doing the same speed here in ohio, it'd probably be $200ish...

*shrug*

i'm just glad it wasn't $1,471...

Sorry to have seen this thread so late, but I had a similar experience in VA and managed to get it reduced to speeding without lawyer intervention. Something the staties will not tell you, is that spedometers can be miscalibrated by a few MPH especially on older vehicles. If you go to a garage which can measure how inaccurate yours is, they will bring down your recorded speed to match.

Maybe it's not too late to appeal?

ahahahah ahahahahahahahahahah i have not even read yoru post, but having done 83 in a 55, you are SCREWED bc i also got a reckless and went from getting for my grad gift exaclty waht i wanted to gettin ga compromise; not that it is so bad obvs i love my car but it was disappointing to know it was so easily preventable.

In regards to the road construction VA was originally going to tack on an extra 75.00 on each driver's annual registration. Only instead they decided to charge only "aggressive" drivers. Which means all moving violations went through the roof! Be careful BBV.
