Wait, why is it unacceptable to root for different college teams in football and basketball? The players and the programs are completely different from one another. Are you one of those "The sports team from my area is superior to the sports team from your area" type guys?
Gee, I apologize that I don't care about PSU basketball when they've never been relevant in my life. I enjoy watching as much March Madness as possible every year, and naturally I find teams and players that I like to watch and root for. Likewise, why would I care about the Marquette football team? I enjoy college sports mostly from a fan's perspective, following the national scene and the championship picture. I have no ties to Marquette football, AT ALL. Unfortunately, no sports team I've ever supported has won the championship since I started following the sport.

lol, I assume that means there is no team, which I considered as a distinct possibility when I made the post. Is being a fan of another college's football team acceptable in these circumstances?
Edit - Actually I just looked it up and they have a little student-run team that plays Division III teams. [img]/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img]

And yes, my joke meant that Marquette doesn't have a football team (it does have a "club" team, as you noted). [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img] I'm a big Marquette basketball fan myself (my alma mater, Virginia, comes first, though), so more power to you!
