Snowball, the position is to be an assistant in our commercial department.

CDS, I actually prefer Craigslist to the UTA list because I'd rather have someone with zero experience. UTA list people tend to have higher expectations. Also, volume-wise it's not even close.

Other than the fact that this likely a 50 year old polish woman who made a typo, she'd probably be a good interview, especially when you consider the typical wasteoids that live in that hellhole you call LA. I assume this is a 10 dollar/hour gig - what the hell do you expect, a three-page CV? I think she'll be 10-key by touch able, which is probably useful for you, provided her English is good.

You're right about it being a typo, but it's still funny. The position is a training position, and this is really the only way to become a talent agent, so I get resumes from people with law degrees, etc.

Let me be a talent agent for you, then.

3-page CV available on request

All the best,

true...normally I have posted stuff on my tracking boards or let someone at CAA etc float it internally amongst the assistants.

But for what your looking for CL seems like a good bet.

My first question in the interview might be "So, what's the job?"

LFS,

I have a friend who's an assistant for some voice-over casting agency. It basically involves making phone calls, then playing Guitar Hero while you wait for a return call, or going to listen to people read scripts in highly exaggerated voices. Is your job opening better than that?

There's no chance the opening is better than that.

Serious question: can you give me information about this agency? I have a friend who has a great voice, several years in radio, a fair amount of experience doing voice and image work in small market television and radio, a few small audio productions and so on. He's always interested in voice work.

mmbt0ne,

Not clear if your friend works for a casting director or a talent agency. In general, if they want to stay in the voice area they should stay put. If they think they'd rather be in on-camera then my job opening would be preferable. That said, you're supposed to stay pretty busy in this business, so anyplace where the assistants have the time to play Guitar Hero during the day might not be a growth opportunity.
