5) When they see you are playing online, they flash a chat window that tells you that you are the target of a pokersite investigation and that you need to allow the investigators (who by now are outside your door) to search your office and hard drive.

I was just skimming the long sillysal post and a way of stopping cheaters of all stripes occurred to me. I haven't really thought it through, but I thought I'd throw it out there anyway. This is just a sketch:

1) When you sign up for a site, you agree to give them permission to enter the room where you play poker and to search your hard drives or risk surrendering your account balance.
2) Suppose the site suspects that you are a cheater.
3) The site uses whatever methods are available to determine your physical location and times when you are likely to be playing.
4) They fly out a two man investigation team composed of topless hot young girls wearing thongs.
5) When they see you are playing online, they flash a chat window that tells you that you are the target of a pokersite investigation and that you need to allow the investigators (who by now are outside your door) to search your office and hard drive.
6) Of course you can refuse them entry, but you then you may forfeit your balance.

OK, flame away.

There, now your suggestion is much more feasible.

Well, I thought I put enough disclaimers in. I only said it was an idea, not necessarily a good idea. Are we never supposed to discuss bad ideas? But the 2+2 children decided upon being uncharitable in every way as I expected they would. How to make yourself understood to children? I remember: Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me!

Ironically I do not see this as to far fetched if online Poker becomes a Legal and Regulated industry in the US operated by US based companies..Except it will not be the sites sending "thugs" to the "suspected" cheaters door but instead it will be the Gaming Commission with a couple of cops harmed with a search warrant and subpoenas..

Hopefully the speed of investigtions improve until then, as spending 3 weeks in jail and then resuming your account with "thank you for your time" won't be optimal.

If OP throws in the legal use of waterboarding to get confessions, then he drew up the same exact tactics to catch cheaters as the Bush/Cheney administration is using to catch terrorists.

Well done, carry on.....
