Is this little class/week standard in american schools? I'm doing 29/week including labs and tutorials right now and that's pretty standard across all kinds of engineering, most students are taking at least 15+ regardless of program.

[/ QUOTE ]

Speaking for my schedule (12 hours), I am only taking this much because I need to be full time to get financial aid.

I actually only need 9 hours in the spring and 3 hours next fall. Unfortunately, it's sequenced so I can't take the one class until next fall.

I'm on a 6 year plan though. I basically have a bachelor's degree for English Studies, but I have 2 years added on to get teacher certification.

So that's why I have so few classes.

Freshman year as a GE at UIUC, I had 17 and 18 hours respectively, iirc. With tons of extra lab times and homework.

17 hours of engineering [censored]

Imsa, where do you go again? And what engineering are you?

[/ QUOTE ]

UIUC, Mechanical Engineering.

[/ QUOTE ]

Sup bro. I was UIUC General Engineering my freshman year! Yay.

My roommate that year and my good friend were both MEs (one is graduated and the other is in his final semester).

Hope things are going well for you in that place. I absolutely despised it.

18 credits = me getting owned right now.

Better than where I was before environment wise though.

I didn't like the environment one bit. Huge lecture classes. Grad teachers that couldn't speak English. Professors who couldn't speak English. It was just one trainwreck of a class after another. I quit going to most. Shrug.

I am definitely glad to hear your experience is going well for you, other than the obligatory 18 billion hours of work.

Management Seminar (T/TH 2-3:15)
Operations Management (T/TH 11-12:15)
International Human Resources Management (T/TH 9:30-10:45)
International Marketing (MWF 10-10:50)
Customer Relationship Management (MWF 11-11:50)
Money and Financial Institutions (MWF 1-1:50)

[censored] me. Won't be especially hard or anything, just boring. The last two should be alright though.

CaseClosed, how would you rate your WIU experience overall?

[/ QUOTE ]
My experience here at WIU has been a mixed big. There are a lot of teachers whom I have really enjoyed. In the poli sci/history departments over here I was educated by people with a lot of different political backgrounds, which I think is a huge plus. I did not have to sit through non-stop liberal preaching. I started out as a history secondary education major but I was really turned off by our education department, but that was mostly because I realized that was not what I wanted to do with my life.

I was able to keep myself really busy with a lot of extra curricular activities which we have a lot of here.

The one thing that sucks that I did not plan for was the lack of real sports. It's hard to get excited for a game that has no value to me. Also the lack of respect this school gets is something that I have had to deal with and will continue to deal with whenever I apply for jobs when I graduate. The student body here is pretty stupid to be straightforward wit that. It’s irritating at times to rarely have a conversation with anyone that is not about getting absolutely [censored] faced 4 nights a week.

I don't know what I would give it on a scale of one to ten or anything like that but I think it's a better school than most people give it credit for and is defiantly a school that is doing their best to go in the right direction. I really enjoyed my time here at this school and I enjoyed the community that surrounds it.

ASTR 304 Solar System Astrophysics
ASTR 405 Cosmology
MATH 330B Complex Variables
MATH 326 Partial Differential Equations
PHIL 337 Ethics: Theory and Practice

I will probably end up delaying one of the maths til spring 2009.

The last random philosophy class is for my minor in Applied Ethics.

University of Victoria Year 4 BSc Astronomy (Applied Ethics)

Pretty gross.

CC,

Glad to hear all of that. I haven't once regretted my decision to go to ISU and I love the English dept--and it really panned out deciding to get into education.

I'm glad to hear that for the most part you've really enjoyed it. Hoping my friends and acquaintances there share you sentiments.

I just really don't know all that much about WIU other than the law enforcement, decent education (supposedly), and I've been there once for a Macomb High football game, haha.

Re: the drunken crazed morons...uhhh, come visit ISU buddy. Luckily, my field(s) have a low percentage of these people so classes can actually be great for meeting people. But this place is a seething hotbed of idiocy.

Carry on listing classes all.
