Macdaddy,

I like a lot of the albums on your list, but you have completely ignored anything rap/hip-hop in your top 25 + extras.

Streets! Also, All Eyez on Me by 2Pac is pretty great. To be honest I haven't listened to enough rap to qualify myself to put any on my list. Also, Prefuse 73 and Ratatat are both definitely hip-hop influenced, but obviously that's a copout. I agree, I should listen to more rap, but it's only something I've recently gotten heavily into and putting some mixtapes by Clipse or Pharrell that just came out recently (and are certainly not the best things ever) is no good.

EDIT: Also, just growing up, I grew up with people who listened to more techno than anything. Most of the rap I was exposed to was Biggie or Jay-Z and I just never went down that path. I got more into electronic and dance music instead.

Good question, it belongs on my list. I thought Odelay was 1995.

I'm especially surprised SD chose to include Sea Change instead of Odelay. While Sea Change has more depth emotionally, I think Odelay is his masterpiece musically.

I figured this would be questioned at some point. Obviously, everything on here is arguable. Odelay is in the next tier. I'm just a huge fan of Sea Change, moreso than anyone I know. A lot of it is how it made me change my perception of Beck as an artist, but most of it is simply how much I enjoy listening to it and how it affects me.

random albums to think about

Morrissey's "You are the Quarry" (Deluxe or the standard one), just thought i'd mention it again, Morrissey comes back after a decade and delivers a gem

I haven't listened to hip-hop in a long time but I really loved:

Aceyalone's "A book of human language". good concept, smart, insightful, poetic, very introspective and maybe morbid, just how I like it. The production could be hit and miss for some ears.
