It should be fun to see a game in St. Louis as it has a reputation for being a great baseball city with the best player in the world/demigod Albert Pujols.

Agreed...I'm very much looking forward to that. I lucked into some great seats at a really cheap price too, so that'll be good.

Although the personal highlight I'm hoping for on the trip is to see the Mets clinch the division in Pittsburgh. I'm scheduled to be there on Sunday, but I may switch the Detroit-Cleveland-Pittsburgh order around if it looks like they're going to do it on Friday or Saturday.

Awesome suggestions everybody....can't thank you enough. Maybe the morning crowd can keep 'em coming.

Oh, and go to King's News. It's the only place within the city limits that can sell porn.

[/ QUOTE ]

Where is King's News? I don't think it exists anymore. And the porn thing is not true at all.

On topic, going up in the Carew Tower is cool and only costs $2. Great views of the city and river.

chicago: can't go wrong w/ gino's east or giordanno's. you might also want to try portillo's for a chicago style dog or beef. or weiner circle if you're in the area (lincoln park). i agree about millenium park & walking down michigan ave, but it doesn't get more touristy then navy pier. beers are a little pricey, but if the weather is nice, the view & people watching can be spectacular.

PM sent.

Also, to anybody interested - don't let my dislike for the owners themselves sway you from going there. It really is pretty good, better than Ted Drewes IMO.

Giordanos pizza... all over chicago

The Berghoff is a dive but has good cheap beer and big meals

Nothing in Milwaukee.... maybe head over to Marquette to look at college girls. Enjoy Milwaukee's Famous Funk. You'll know what I mean. Pabst mansion still around? Is it even worth a trip?

Second trip to Chicago is probably sah-side for a White Sox game? Check out Frank Lloyd Wright's house in Oak Park. Lots of FLW-designed houses in that neighborhood.

Cinci - only been there on business.

Detroit - ibid

Cleveland - R&R HOF

Pittsburgh - get an early flight out.

Edited to remove mean things about St.Louis.

2nd edit - Hyde Park is fine if the museum is OP's destination (a great museum, btw). U Chicago is close by and has interesting galleries and architecture. Maybe combine a trip to U Chicago with a drive up to Oak Park? Just an idea.

How did this thread happen without references to charity poker games in the Cleveland/Akron area?

While I wouldn't call it "touristy," if you want to hit a fun night spot, go to the Safehouse.

For food, my two favorites are Solly's Coffee Shop (Butter burgers...yes, that's a capital B) and Kopp's Frozen Custard.

The eateries are not close to the stadium, though.

CRAP. I forgot to say that these were in MILWAUKEE!

It used to be downtown somewhere. They sold the hardcore mags and had some association with Larry Flynt. It's been more than a decade so my memory is a little hazy, I might even have the name wrong.
