Default prop betting J82 hit flop

last home game i was playing at, the dealer was offering to prop bet players that a J8 or 2 will hit flop. i told my friend it was neg ev, he says its even money cause the pros prop bet it on hsp. i told him its 12 cards 3 times, so 36/52. am i right, and if im wrong tell me how to do the math. thanks.

This question seems to be asked once a week.

The easiest method would be to compute (1 - Probability of no J, 8, or 2) which is:

1 - 40/52 * 39/51 * 38/50

= 1 - .44706 = .5529

That is 1 - (Prob of no J82 1st card * Prob of no J82 2nd card * Prob of no J82 3rd card)

Choose three cards. There is a 55.29% chance at least one of those three cards will be on the flop.
