...yeah, how dare they not make a sequel to a movie that hasn't been out for 2 years yet, made all of $25M domestically, and got only decent, not great reviews...

those bastards.

[/ QUOTE ]

81% on Rotten Tomatoes isn't "great," but it's better than "decent."

Chinatown.

Oh, wait, they made a sequel to Chinatown?

[Joke ripped off from the John Larouquette Show, where a character makes a suggestion over the phone to Jack Nicholson that he should do a sequel.]

SuperTroopers deserved a sequel because it's clearly the best broken lizard movie to date.

Maverick is a movie they could have made a franchise out of

The Princess Bride would have been awesome for sequels but since Andre is Dead. Mandy Patankin got too fat. But I would still like to see it.

Baseketball was one of the most underratted funny movies of all time. Screetch Squelari is da man Chota Boy for president.

I mentioned this a while back in a Tom Cruise career thread, but I think the time is right for Top Gun 2.

Bonus: I think Rick Rossovich is available.

My nomination:

Maverick

They even set it up for one with the way the movie ended. They obviously intended to make a sequel, but it never happened.

[/ QUOTE ]

A sequel to Maverick will not do well. When Maverick came out in 94 Pop/Country music was all the rage. Country nightclubs were everywhere and the record companies put a ton of money into promoting Maverick Not to mention that most of the big names in country music at the time did the soundtrack and made cameos. I worked as a country music DJ at the time and remember getting a huge promotional package for this movie from my music service. That marketing avenue/target audience no longer exists.
